Born in the cave dwellings carved into the hills of Sacromonte, just above Granada’s historic Albaicín district, Zambra is the most raw and localized form of flamenco. For centuries, these narrow, whitewashed spaces have been the crossroads of Andalusia’s Moorish past and Gitano culture. Unlike traditional flamenco stages, they bring the artist and the audience together into a single, intimate circle.
While these caves are now illuminated by modern artificial light sources, the claustrophobic and dramatic atmosphere created by the tight space remains unchanged. This photo series documents that intense environment through sharp contrasts of light and shadow, capturing the pounding heels on wooden floors, the raw facial expressions, and the pure moment of "duende" echoing within the caves of Sacromonte.
